Ringwood mum battling breast cancer hosting Evening of Pink fundraising event for Future Dreams charity at Elm Tree pub Ringwood

AN ‘Evening of Pink’ has been organised by a Ringwood mum battling an aggressive form of cancer in aid of a charity which has been supporting her.

Victoria Johnstone (41) found a lump in her breast in April this year and was diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer.

The mum-of-two has organised the fundraiser to collect money for charity Future Dreams which provides support for people like her who are affected by the disease.

She is currently undergoing intensive chemotherapy and is too unwell to work for the TFG Group which owns high street shops like Whistles, Hobbs and Phrase Eight where she is usually employed.

Instead, she is dedicating her time to raising funds for the charity which has given her “invaluable” help since her diagnosis.

She said: “Breast cancer turned my world upside down. This diagnosis was completely unexpected and impacted my life, as well as the lives of my family and friends.

“There are many fantastic charities supporting cancer research and treatment, but Future Dreams has been incredibly supportive of us. Hosting this event is my way of showing appreciation and, with luck, raising enough to help more families affected.”

The Evening of Pink will be held in the Tithe Barn at the Elm Tree pub, Hightown Road on Thursday 17th October. Guests will enjoy music, delicious canapes and nibbles, and a raffle.

There will also be talks by for breast cancer advocates Michelle Harvey and Annabelle Mayhew, along with a special appearance by newly elected mayor of Ringwood Rae Frederick, who will draw the raffle.

Tickets are £10 and all proceeds from the evening will go to Future Dreams.
