Southern Water spends £3.7m upgrading East Boldre wastewater treatment works

SAND filters have been installed at East Boldre wastewater treatment works at a cost of £3.7m.

Southern Water said the upgrade will “add a final polish” to the water processed at the site.

The company has also spent £3m installing new pressurised multimedia tanks and “ferric dosing” to control sulfide and methane emissions at Handcross wastewater works in West Sussex.

“We’re sorry for any disruption these works have caused but we’re looking forward to the benefits they will bring.”
