PEOPLE are invited to share some movie magic as the Lymington and Pennington Community Carnival and Fete returns after a Covid-enforced hiatus.

The popular summer event is set to be staged on Sunday 10th July – three years after the last one – with Lymington Community Centre and the Lions Club taking on organising duties.

As well as the traditional colourful procession through the town centre, a host of stalls and activities will fill the nearby sports ground.

Entrants are being urged to come forward for the procession, which this year carries the theme 'My Favourite Film'.

They can include decorated bicycles, prams, wheelbarrows, equestrian, motorbikes, floats, lorries, boats and buses, as well as marching bands, dance groups and walking groups.

The Bournemouth Carnival Band and the Caledonia Pipe Band have been booked.

Collections from the carnival will be shared with local charities, together with the Lymington Community Association.

Centre manager Rachel Smith said: “This is a really fun community event, where everyone can get together and celebrate whilst being involved in a colourful and joyful procession.

“Lymington has so much to offer its community, together with the surrounding areas. We all know how difficult the last two years have been for everyone and hopefully we are now moving forward and the carnival is a wonderful opportunity for us all to pull together.”

People are also sought to contribute to the fete, which is expected to feature stalls showcasing a mix of local charities and food and retail.
