Avon Causeway to close for nearly three weeks as BCP Council carries out repairs

A major route linking Christchurch with the New Forest is set to be shut for nearly three weeks

Motorists who use the Avon Causeway face a lengthy diversion from 4th to 22nd March as the route is closed for maintenance between the junctions at Matchams Lane and Ringwood Road.

There will also be no parking, waiting, or loading at any time along the section while the works are carried out.

The bridge, which has been shut due to flooding several times over the past few months, will be waterproofed and repairs carried out including replacing joints.

A diversion via Ringwood Road, Stony Lane, Christchurch bypass, Fairmile Road, Hurn Road, Christchurch Road and Matchams Lane will operate during the closure.
