A MOTORCYCLIST was badly injured in a crash with a car in Boldre, in the New Forest.

Paramedics including from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance were sent around 4.30pm last Friday to the B3054 Beaulieu Road, outside Beaulieu Heath Airfield, in Boldre.

The rider, a 26-year-old man, had been carrying a 22-year-old female pillion passenger.

He suffered multiple serious injuries and was taken by a land ambulance to the major trauma unit at University Hospital Southampton.

The woman was taken to the same hospital by another land ambulance, but a South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson described her injuries as “less serious”.

Firefighters from Beaulieu also attended the incident.

This collision, coupled with another in Petersfield on the same day which left a motorcyclist with serious injuries, prompted police to urge riders to take extra care.

Hampshire officers said: “Please be careful if you choose to make your essential journey on your bike.”
