Met Office issue Yellow weather warning for heavy rain and localised flooding across the New Forest and Christchurch

A yellow weather warning has been issued for heavy rain and flooding across the New Forest and Christchurch later today (Monday) and overnight.

The Met Office alert says downpours affecting much of England between 3pm and 9am tomorrow may lead to “localised flooding”, with a small chance homes and businesses could be impacted.

“Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times with a risk of thunder, are expected to develop later on Monday afternoon, then move northwards through the evening and overnight,” it said.

“Between 15 and 20 mm of rain may fall in less than an hour, with a few places seeing up to 40 mm in two hours. Where this occurs, there is the chance of some flooding and disruption.”

Motorists have been warned of “difficult driving conditions” due to spray and water on the roads, and forecasters said there could also be road closures.

There will also be a “slight chance” of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses, said the Met Office.
