Moped robbers force rider off Barrack Road in Christchurch




ROBBERS stole a moped after using a car to force its rider off a main road in Christchurch.

Police are urging witnesses and those with useful video footage to come forward after the theft happened on the A35 Barrack Road around 10.25am on Sunday.

The victim, a man in his 20s, had been riding a grey Honda towards the Iford Roundabout when a black or grey BMW approached near the Esso petrol station.

Having forced the bike off the road, the car stopped next to it and its front seat passenger got out as the rider fled on foot.

The male passenger then got on the moped and rode it off towards the Iford Roundabout, with the BMW following.

PC Rachael Birch said: “We are carrying out a detailed investigation into this incident and I am keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.

“In particular, I am keen to hear from any motorists who may have captured relevant dash cam footage.

“I would also urge residents in the vicinity with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras to check their footage for anything that might help us to identify the vehicle involved.”
