New Milton Men’s Shed group celebrate move to new home

MEMBERS of a New Milton men’s group have said a fond farewell to their old workshop as they prepare their new home.

The town’s Men’s Shed cleared the old site and moved its contents to their larger, purpose-built shed, near the town’s football club.

The new shed will be officially opened within the next couple of months after four years at Fernhill Sports Ground.

Affiliated to the Mens Shed UK movement, the NMMS aim to make their new home not only a social hub for members to meet and chat but a place where they can undertake practical projects for themselves and for the community, exchange and learn skills and “generally have a good time”.

Although based in New Milton, the membership – with women also welcome – extends to Barton, Sway, Hordle and Milford and welcomes visitors every Friday at the Fawcett’s Fields site between midday and 2pm.

The club also has occasional talks and social events. For more information visit newmiltonmensshed.org.
