Prosecutor Munayah Hassan told Southampton Magistrates’ Court how Peat, of Burns Road in Southampton, was part of a group which smashed their way into the store. They then loaded the goods valued at £9,685 into large sacks before fleeing.

Peat, whose blood was found at the scene, was on licence at the time of the offence, having been released from prison after serving time for a robbery, she added.

He pleaded guilty to one count of burglary as well as theft of a motor vehicle, which also took place on the same day.

Peat was remanded in custody until the case is heard at the crown court on 14th October.
