Ringwood man William Sheen jailed over New Milton business burglaries and home raid
A RINGWOOD burglar has been jailed for 28 months after raiding four New Milton businesses and a home.
William Sheen (26), of Clarks Close, pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court yesterday (Monday).
On 19th November last year Sheen hit ORA Beauty on Station Road where he damaged property, and then targeted Flip 'n' Tails on Old Milton Green, stealing vape pens from the counter.
The next morning, he burgled Superpet on Station Road, and stole three charity boxes containing change. A day later Sheen took vaping gear and cash from Tidal Vape on Station Road.
He also burgled a home on Cloughs Road in Ringwood on 14th February last year, taking jewellery, cash and cigarette packets.
Police staff investigator Stephen Hortin, from the Operation Hawk Team, said he was pleased with the court result, adding: “Thanks to the tireless work of the Ringwood and New Milton Neighbourhood Policing Teams, Sheen was identified through CCTV footage at each of the burglaries.
"This was also in conjunction with DNA evidence recovered at one of the scenes.
"The sentence reflects the damage that he has caused to the victims, and to the wider community.
“I hope this provides some closure to those affected by his offending, and reassures the public that we are committed to tackling those who cause the most harm to our communities and will bring them to justice.”
Police Sergeant Rob Ford, of the Ringwood Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The apprehension and successful conviction of William Sheen has taken considerable resources from the Ringwood, Fordingbridge and New Milton Beat teams.
"The sentence reflects the insidious nature of these crimes and the effect that they have had on the victims.
"Sheen committed these offences with no regard to the communities he resided in at that time purely to support his lifestyle.
"The community values of both Ringwood and New Milton are reflected in his sentence and as a district we are committed to ensure that the residents of this area uphold these values."
