A CHRISTCHURCH man has appeared in court accused of threatening members of his own family with an air rifle.

Dean Hopkins (30), of Bargates, is alleged to have had an imitation firearm at a property in nearby Barrack Road

It was said he had it with the intent of causing family members to believe unlawful violence would be used against them last Friday afternoon.

He is also charged with using or threatening unlawful violence that caused those present to fear for their personal safety.

Dean Hopkins did not enter pleas to the two charges and was remanded in custody by Poole magistrates.

He is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on 26th March.
