A BRANSGORE man has appeared in court facing 17 charges including a raft of violent offences, several of which were racially or religiously aggravated.

Detectives charged Jones following an investigation into multiple reports from around 4pm that day that a man attacked various members of the public in the Littledown area.

As well as these, he is accused of intentional strangulation against a man, possessing an offensive weapon – a wooden plank – in a public place; and affray by using or threatening to use unlawful violence.

Jones made no pleas when he appeared in court last Thursday, and he was remanded in custody to reappear on Thursday 12th June.

The adjournment was to combine the case with two other charges he faces – assaulting a police officer by beating in Bournemouth on 1st January, and failing to answer bail at the court on 4th March.

Meanwhile, investigations into the 3rd June disturbances are continuing, with witnesses urged to come forward.

Detective Supt Steve May, of BCP CID, said: “We are grateful to members of the public who have already provided us with information for our investigation.

“However, I am still appealing for any witnesses to come forward who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I am also keen to hear from motorists or residents in the Littledown area who may have captured any relevant dash cam, home CCTV or doorbell camera footage.”
