Emergency crews swoop on Calshot beach amid sudden death
A PENSIONER died suddenly at Calshot beach yesterday (Monday).
The alarm was raised around 4.40pm, and the coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter landed on Calshot Spit.
Its on-board paramedic tried to resuscitate the casualty, helped by paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.
However, the 70-year-old man from Southampton was confirmed dead at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
A Lymington Coastguard rescue team also attended, along with a Calshot RNLI lifeboat crew, a local fire crew and police.
A Hampshire force spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.44pm to a report of a sudden death at Calshot beach.
“Officers attended and confirmed a man in his 70s had died. His family are aware.
“This is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
