A MAN has come forward after police released a picture in their hunt for a dog owner who assaulted a walker and damaged his phone over failing to pick up his pet’s mess.

After the owner made no attempt to clear it up, the victim challenged him and filmed him on his phone.

The owner turned towards the victim and threw a punch, which knocked the phone from his hand.

An altercation took place during which the man stamped on the phone, denting it, and the victim suffered a cut to his right ear.

"We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal."A spokesperson from Dorset Police, said: "Following an image appeal, a man officers are looking to speak to in connection with the incident has been identified. No arrests have been made.
