Man arrested after woman found dead in house fire on Kings Avenue in Christchurch faces no further action
A MAN who was arrested after a woman in her 80s died in a house fire in Christchurch has been released without charge.
Irish born Annie Teresa Mitchell (87) was found dead in her home on King’s Avenue after the blaze on 13th September last year.
A post-mortem examination found she died of smoke inhalation and ischemic heart disease.
Police launched an investigation, and a man in his 60s was arrested. But they have now revealed that he will face no further action.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: “Following a detailed investigation, officers are satisfied that there was no third-party involvement in the death.
“The man who was arrested will face no further police action in relation to the death, and officers will continue to carry out enquiries on behalf of the coroner.
“The family of the woman who sadly died have been kept informed throughout the investigation and have been updated with this latest development. Our thoughts remain with them.”
