Man arrested on suspicion of attempted rape in New Forest woodland

A MAN has been arrested by officers investigating a suspected sex attack in Blackfield at the weekend.

Hampshire police said a 30-year-old male, who was from the neighbourhood, had been detained on suspicion of attempted rape.

The development follows an appeal for witnesses to an incident that happened between 11.20am and 11.50am on Saturday.

A woman reported being assaulted while out walking in woodland off Row Down, between Roughdown Lane and Kings Copse Road.

Announcing the arrest this morning (Thursday), the constabulary said the suspect was currently in custody.
