Lymington hotel Stanwell House to reopen 16th December after multimillion-pound refurbishment
A HOTEL in the centre of Lymington is set to reopen after a near-year-long multimillion-pound revamp.
Stanwell House closed in early January while the major refurbishment, then estimated to cost £3-4m, was carried out.
It was hoped the High Street site would open in the summer, but it's now due to throw open its doors on 16th December, with bookings available from tomorrow (Thursday).
Lance Bartlett, general manager at Stanwell House, said he didn't want to rush the opening: “We’re really excited to be opening our doors and welcoming back guests to the hotel.
"This is the result of months of hard work for so many people, and the last thing we wanted to do was to rush it and not have everything perfect for opening.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience and it has been great to see how many people are anticipating our reopening."
He added: "We finally have a date to welcome people back, and we can’t wait for our guests to experience all the hard work and money that has gone into making the hotel a luxury boutique for everyone to enjoy.
"We want to give a special thanks to the local Lymington community, who through these many months have been so supportive – we can’t wait to give back to them through our trademark Stanwell experience.”
The privately owned hotel has 27 boutique rooms and features the Samphire Restaurant, which offers a predominantly seafood menu, and the Salt Bar, accessed off the street both for casual customers and hotel guests.
The Orangery – previously known as The Conservatory – has a cocktail bar for lunch, afternoon tea, and a champagne and oyster menu.
As reported in the A&T, before Stanwell House closed residents were invited to take away the hotel's old furniture for donations to Naomi House.
The 18th century, listed building was a private home before being turned into a finishing school for girls, in around 1820. It was home to solicitors Moore & Rawlings from the late 19th century, and has been a hotel since 1945.
