Coronation parade and picnic at Lymington's Woodside Gardens to mark crowning of King Charles III
A CORONATION parade and picnic in the park are being organised in Lymington to celebrate the crowning of King Charles III.
Held at Woodside park, Rookes Lane, on 7th May from 11am until 4pm, the event is being run by Lymington and Pennington Town Council to bring the community together to “celebrate this momentous occasion”.
The parade will take the place of the town carnival which has not been held for three years, due to the pandemic.
King Charles will be crowned on Saturday 6th May but the council’s event will be the day after so people can watch the coronation live on television.
Cllr Anne Corbridge, chair of the events sub-committee, said: “We are very excited to invite everyone to the stunning setting of Woodside Gardens to bring the community together to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, with a walking parade for those that would like to get involved and a packed schedule of entertainment throughout the day.”
People will be encouraged to bring a picnic to the park where they will be entertained by live music.
There will also be sports day competitions, a fun dog show, kids funfair and community, charity and market stalls; along with a bottle tombola and a range of hot and cold drinks and food on sale.
Businesses, charities, community groups and schools or nurseries can take part in the walking parade by emailing carnival@lymingtoncommunity.com for an entry form.
