THE urgent treatment centre at Lymington hospital will close three hours early today (Tuesday) due to staff shortages.

The centre, usually open from 8am to 9pm, will today shut its doors at 6pm.

A spokesperson from the UTC said: "Staff shortages are preventing the unit from operating their usual hours and patients are asked to seek care and advice from alternative healthcare providers after 6pm."

Alternative providers include phoning 111 or through its website www.111.nhs.uk.

The spokesperson said while the UTC resolves its staffing shortages, patients should check lymingtonutc.nhs.uk and its social media channels for updates before visiting.

The UTC comprises a GP-led team of nurse practitioners, specialist paramedics and healthcare support workers who assess and treat or refer minor injuries for patients of all ages.

It's not the first time staff shortages have seen the UTC close its doors.

In February the centre closed for a day with patients asked to find treatment elsewhere. It reopened the following day, but closed earlier at 6pm.
