Letters: Without action, there will be more school crossing accidents

SIR - I read your headline story regarding the five-year-old child unfortunately in collision with a car outside Brockenhurst Primary School with sadness.

As a driver who uses this route daily, I would like to add a voice to the calls for a crossing patrol.

I have lost count of the incidents I have witnessed of mums, running along the pavement towing their flailing offspring by an outstretched arm, charging straight on to the crossing, without so much as a hint of a pause - sprinting across like a Barbour-clad Jessica Ennis-hill, heedless as to the proximity of the traffic.

Sadly, more accidents will happen without action.
