Letters: Take away the takeaways - we're stuffed!

SIR - I was appalled to read in last week’s edition details of a planning application that has been submitted for Hills garage on Milford Road, Pennington.

In a small parade of local shops, we already have a total of four hot food takeaways so surely no case can be made for another.

Fox Pond currently offers the choice of fish and chips, Chinese, Thai and Indian takeaways, so one wonders what would come next - McDonald's or KFC, perhaps?

And, as for another convenience store, we are extremely well served by McColls, and there's also Tesco and One Stop further up the road in Pennington Square.

I hope reason will prevail and some other use can be made of the premises - residential in preference to yet more unnecessary retail outlets.
