Letters: Seeing red over white vans blocking residents' roads

SIR – For at least the last two years, residents in Barton-on-Sea and New Milton have been blighted by numerous white vans and sometimes cars being parked on their residential roads.

It would appear that the reason for this is that a local car /van hire and sales company has insufficient storage space on its own land, so uses the residential roads in these areas.

These vehicles are a blight on the neighbourhood and the residents are fed up with this eyesore. The vans and often cars remain parked on the roads for weeks and often months at a time without moving.

Although it is not illegal to do what they are doing, they obviously have no thought for those of us who live in these areas.

Many residents are elderly and often have carers/medical professionals visiting their properties but who, because of this inconsiderate action, cannot park close to their properties.

In addition, some of these vehicles are taking up spaces near to the local shops, which means that some customers often cannot visit the shops, which inconveniences them and affects the shopkeepers’ business.

So, a message to this company: come on, do the right thing and clear our lovely area of this blight.
