Letters: In defence of Christchurch's 'well-respected' MP Sir Chris Chope

SIR – I find it quite distasteful that a bunch of soon-to-be redundant Christchurch councillors, who spend their collective time trying to install a million pound pedestrian crossing where it is patently not needed, have the gall to decry Sir Christopher Chope OBE, our well-respected Member of Parliament.

Sir Chris has worked tirelessly on behalf of all the residents of Christchurch, battling against those who have inflicted a local council on us that we did not want.

Still, if these thoughtless councillors poison enough people, perhaps Sir Chris will be forced to stand down and we can all vote for Sajid Javid or one of his cronies who promise us heaven and promptly send us all to hell.

Shame on you all.
