Letters: Don't let street parking charges happen in Lymington
SIR - What are Hampshire County Council thinking of?
Following the headline article last week (Plan for town parking fees ‘disastrous’) we have to respond.
My husband I came to live here from a Leicestershire village that was absolutely decimated by car parking charges. Don’t let it happen to Lymington.
We notice so happily how vibrant the High Street is in comparison. It generates good feelings which in turn become buying decisions. Surely they can understand that?
The internet is so, so easy to buy through, and each sale is another nail in the coffin of bright and interesting shops.
The architecture of those shops in lovely Lymington is interesting and so varied. It draws visitors to enjoy it, and to park the car free whilst we spend money purchasing or dining surely is a vital factor?
Bournemouth and Southampton are beckoning and transport is simple.
Keep things just as they are, and Lymington will remain the magnet it is, to the benefit of all.
