Letters: Don't desert your local shops - or we won't be here next time
SIR – We have remained open for business during this current crisis, enabling people to keep all their animals fit, fed and healthy.
At the beginning it was gratifying to see many new customers. They told us that the supermarkets and the internet were unable to supply them.
With a lot of effort and hard work by my staff, we kept supplies on the shelves and the vast majority of customers satisfied. Also, many were pleased to note that we stocked a far greater range and matched or even bettered supermarket prices.
Where are those customers now?
Next time they may find we are not here if they do not continue to patronise us and other local businesses.
We are open 54 hours a week on 362 days of the year, for expert advice and supplies for a wide variety of animals.
We do not require extra taxes on businesses with a different model, just continued support for a local business run and staffed by local people.
