Letters: Don't copy parking mistakes that hurt Worthing town centre

SIR - We moved to Lymington six years ago from West Sussex.

Worthing's town centre has suffered dreadfully as the result of high taxes and stringent parking meter restrictions.

We owned a development of eight shops and two catering premises, including a Pizza Express, in one of the main trading streets.

Worthing town centre is today a shadow of its former self with numerous boarded-up premises. People go to the out of town retail parks.

We have no vested interest in Lymington commercial property but I fear for anyone who has - be they tenants or landlords.

Hopefully the same dreadful mistakes won't be made here by another Conservative-run council.

Mike Eddowes, Lymington
