Letter: Why are disposable barbecues still on sale?

More news, no ads

SIR – Despite all the news recently on the potential damage disposable barbecues can cause, I am not sure that they have actually been banned in the New Forest?

However, I was very disappointed to find them still for sale two days ago on Saturday in a local branch of Tesco in Pennington – and I watched a customer buy two of them.

Of course the very pleasant staff there have no say in the matter but surely managers can veto stocking and selling these items.

On another matter, why is it we seem to have lost all sense of pride in our town and surroundings? The volume of rubbish along the verge outside Pennington Infant School is absolutely disgusting.

Even with limited pupils and staff, why can’t children and their parents be persuaded to use bins or take their rubbish home?

It is something that should be an important part of everyone’s education.

Disappointed of Lymington,
