Letter – Toilets revamp will eradicate the history of Lymington Town Quay

SIR – The article on new views of the Town Quay toilets revamp (A&T, 19th February) left me amazed how New Forest District Council can justify spending £1.2m on building new toilets and seven shower units for yacht owners.

Lymington has a yacht club which has shower facilities. In these troubled times with schools, gyms and other businesses closed, many people losing their jobs, the council are putting up the council tax and rents – this is ridiculous.

The jewel in the crown does not need a modern building as this will eradicate the history of the quay.

We have small businesses on the quay selling coffee, tea and ice cream, also two public houses, one being on Quay Hill and the other is situated on the waterfront itself and has a viewing platform which enables the public to sit at tables and chairs and take in the views over the river with a glass of wine.
