Letter: Push for going cashless is discrimination

I READ with disbelief and disgust the comments by Cllr Cox in the paper on the 10th May.

I believe that it is still possible to own a car and drive on the open road without having a bank account.

By refusing to consider a return to cash he is disenfranchising or even discriminating against a section of society.

Is there still a place for cash?
Is there still a place for cash?

Not all of us even with a bank account want to use a bank card or a phone app to pay for parking.

Cash is so much easier.

Unfortunately criminals may target the machines but surely in this modern age machines can be made theft proof.

IN response to the article about parking charges (A&T 10th May), I believe that the cash option should be retained, but certainly the debit card should be a payment choice.

I say this because I should not be forced to buy a £1,000 phone to be able to park my car.

On top of this, if I did have such a device, with all the internet fraud, I would not wish to link it to even more potentially disreputable people.

READING of the difficulties and inconvenience of some people who were denied paying cash for parking their vehicles in a public car park when it was only possible to use an app or pay digitally (A&T 10th May), prompted me to wonder if, at some stage, the Royal Mint will go into extinction as we won’t need cash or bank notes as currency any longer?

Just a thought!
