Letter: SGN’s ‘PR exercise’ with no awareness of the extra traffic Tiptoe would have to endure
AFTER attending the SGN meeting at St John's church in Bashley, it was obviously just a public relations exercise to pacify local residents but with nothing helpful on the table.
There was no awareness of the extra traffic Tiptoe would have to endure.
The diversion route on the A35 might deter some from using Tiptoe as a rat-run but not drivers with local knowledge or a satnav.
With a school, two nurseries, two pubs and two churches, plus an already dangerous crossroads, it will be an accident waiting to happen.
The road from Tiptoe crossroads to Bashley roundabout is already in a very poor state and hasn't been resurfaced since at least the 1970s.
I have had no response from the council about this matter.
When Bashley crossroad was converted to a roundabout several years we were told that Bashley road would be closed for eight weeks and traffic would come through Tiptoe.
Then someone with half a brain realised they could do the work without closing the road. The contractors did the job using traffic lights for a few days!
Is there anyone out there with half a brain?
