Letter: Is the New Forest turning into a toilet-free zone?

SIR – Is the New Forest District Council area to become a toilet-free zone?

Those at Hatchet Pond already demolished, those at Barton waterfront planned for removal, and the public toilets at Calshot(pictured) are next. When people pay extra for the use of council amenity parking permits, they expect to find a toilet.

These cost-saving measures have to be investigated alongside the £1.2m luxury facility proposed for Lymington Town Quay. The budget for this project needs to be halved and the money spent on upgrading the facilities planned for closure.

If these closures come about there will be a need to put large warning signs up to advise the public to beware of human waste disposal and contaminated litter.

There also needs to be advice as to how far you will have to travel to find a public toilet.

Come clean, NFDC.
