Letter: Name change for community centre in New Forest was inexplicable

WITH regard to the inexplicable change of name of Milford-on-Sea’s Community Centre to The Bridge, Mr Ruddle in his letter (A&T 1st Dec) tries to justify the change with the absurd contention that renaming it will encourage more people to visit it and promoters to put on entertainment and other events.

Why? Is it because The Bridge sounds like a coffee shop which might attract promoters and villagers when they are feeling thirsty?

Community Centre, on the other hand, describes exactly what it is and does. No wonder Milford-on-Sea residents are still calling the building the Community Centre and will no doubt continue doing so.
