Letter: Commitment of so many

I AM sure there are many readers such as myself who are delighted to hear Mr Crimp is recovering (A&T 22nd Aug) and we wish him improving health following his cardiac arrest in Highcliffe.

The intervention by Dr Cooper was most fortunate and I do not wish to take away from his talent and training which is clearly undoubted and which contributed to the favourable outcome.

My comment is that doctors, nurses, paramedics and those trained in first aid produce this type of result with enormous frequency for which we must all be grateful.

The tone of the report does not reflect this which, in my opinion, is unfortunate and detracts from the commitment of so many who would not seek acknowledgement or recognition.

This should not be interpreted as any form of reduction of admiration for the action taken by the doctor. He must have succeeded in the course of treatment followed.

What is disappointing is the inference this is an unusual occurrence. Fortunately it is not. The sensationalism suggested in the report puts the wrong emphasis on action taken.
