Jail for Joe Chamberlain of Pennington after attacking woman in front of child

A PENNINGTON man who attacked a woman in front of a child has been jailed.

Joe Chamberlain (28), of Meadow Road, committed the offence on 3rd October last year. He had denied one count of assault but was found guilty following a trial at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.

He was handed a 40-week jail term due to the offence taking place while he was serving a suspended sentence.

The Bench added the incident was “a sustained violent attack in the presence of a small child”, which meant only a custodial sentence was appropriate.
