2024 Burley Steam and Vintage Vehicle Show cancelled over weather

OVERNIGHT rain combined with further storm predictions has seen the cancellation of this weekend’s Burley Steam and Vintage Vehicle Show.

The popular event, which takes place at Burley Park on Chapel Lane, was set to feature vintage tractors, miniature steam rides, live music, trade stalls and a local craft market.

Organiser Jon Narey said: “The parkland that we use for the stream fair is already waterlogged from the rain overnight.

“With more wet weather forecast in the next couple of days it is impossible for us to go ahead from a health and safety point of view.

“I’m gutted that we have had to take this decision but we hope to be back next year.”

The two-day show was set to take place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September, with around 400 exhibitors due to take part.

In previous years money raised from the volunteer-run event has been donated to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
