ICY conditions will hit the rush hour in the New Forest and Christchurch tomorrow morning (Wednesday), according to a weather warning issued by the Met Office.

The yellow alert covering southern England is forecast to last from about midnight tonight until around 10am, with travel disruption from ice likely.

There could be rain and hail showers, the Met Office, and cautioned the public of potential injuries from slips on slippery, untreated surfaces, including roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The forecast said: “A mix of rain and hail showers, with some snow over higher ground, is likely to leave surfaces wet overnight.

“Surface temperatures are then expected to fall below freezing with icy stretches forming in places.”
