NFDC planners give go-ahead to build low-energy homes on former Ashley Junior School land
PLANNERS have given the go-ahead for three new "low energy" homes to be built in New Milton.
The two semi-detached and one detached property will be built on Ashley Junior School land between 78 and 80 Ashley Road.
Property agent Pad Studios told NFDC planners the homes will be built to the "highest" environmental standards and will fit "harmoniously" in the street scene.
NFDC planning chiefs granted the planning application with a raft of conditions.
One is that the homes cannot be occupied until the completion of a "water efficiency calculation" which demonstrates no more than 110 litres of water per person per day shall be consumed in the development.
The council also told planners to form a plan which will mitigate the "additional nutrient input" created by the development and its impact on the local water environment.
An officer's report on the site said there are "high levels" of nitrogen at some conservation sites on the Solent and that there is "uncertainty" as to whether new housing developments will have a detrimental impact on these levels.
The officer's report said apart from one protected oak at the site, all other trees can be felled.
