Beaulieu and Christchurch Harbour are at risk of flooding today (Monday) warns Environment Agency

AREAS of the New Forest and Christchurch are being warned to expect flooding today (Monday).

The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for Beaulieu estuary and Christchurch Harbour due to higher than normal tides.

For Beaulieu, this afternoon’s tide at 12.30pm will be impacted by unsettled weather and light winds, it explained.

As a result, for around 30 minutes either side of high water flooding is expected in Mill Pond and Palace Lane, which could make access to the village “temporarily more difficult”.

The agency, which continues to monitor the forecast, added is urging the public to take care if walking or driving through the village.

Christchurch Harbour was also affected by higher spring tides at around 9am this morning, which is due to “unsettled weather” including force four winds and large waves.

The agency added: “We are expecting higher than normal tides over the next two days and as a result we may issue further alerts and warnings.

“We will continue to monitor levels closely.”
