Hampshire Premier Division: New Forest Hockey 12-2 Blandford

NEW Forest Hockey ladies first team ran out comfortable winners in a 12-2 victory over Blandford at Brockenhurst College on Saturday.

After climbing to the top of the Premier table last week, New Forest were full of confidence going into a home game against Blandford.

The hosts started with a bang and were 3-0 up after just seven minutes from a quick-fire hat-trick for player-of-the-match Lia Waine.

It took just 45 seconds for Waine to get on the score sheet, finishing off a neat passing move with a lashed shot past the visiting keeper.

Moments later, Lauren Gavin found Waine, and she drove into the circle before slotting the ball past the keeper at the near post. A third Waine goal swiftly followed and it was almost game-over.

Jade Lock then got in on the act, with a brilliant reverse volley from a tight angle to make it 4-0 and Forest were cruising at half time.

The second half started just as quickly with Lynn Jones following-up a rebound off the post from a penalty corner. Blandford then pulled one back from a corner, but Forest quickly responded with two goals from Waine, to take her tally to five, and another from Lock to make it 8-1.

A mistake from Forest then led to an open goal which Blandford’s high forward converted for their second goal.

But two goals each from Lock and Gavin cemented Forest’s dominance leaving the final score 12-2.

New Forest: Griffiths, Biddlecombe, Brewis, Lloyd, Cammegh, Brooks, Jones, Noble, Messenger, Gavin, Lock, Waine.
