The Met Office issues yellow warning for heavy rain across the New Forest and Christchurch




HEAVY rain could cause flooding and travel disruption today (Monday) across the New Forest and Christchurch.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the south until 6pm this evening and is warning downpours are likely to cause some disruption to travel.

Spray and flooding on roads is likely to make journey times longer, with bus and train services potentially affected as well.

Flooding of a few homes and businesses is also possible.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the River Blackwater and is warning flooding could be possible in parts of Landford in the New Forest.

Cadnam and Ower could also see flooding due to rising water levels in the Cadnam River.

Around 30mm of rain has fallen locally within the last 24 hours, it explained, with water levels expected to peak around lunchtime.
