Met Office yellow warning as Storm Conall to hit New Forest and Christchurch
A YELLOW warning for heavy rain covering the New Forest and Christchurch has been issued by the Met Office.
Heavy downpours are expected from 10pm today (Tuesday) until midday tomorrow as Storm Conall is set to hit the area.
The weather service said flooding of “a few homes and businesses” was likely, and urged people to check if their properties were at risk. If so, they should consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.
Spray and flooding on roads and potential disruption to bus and train services could make journeys longer.
Those planning to travel should check road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending plans if necessary. The Met Office also recommended people prepare for power cuts.
The alert said: “An area of rain is expected to reach parts of southern England overnight Tuesday, becoming persistent and heavy in places for a time.
“Much of the warning area will see 15-20mm of rain with 30-40mm in some areas.
“There is a lower chance of 50mm of rain in a few places, before rain eases and clears by early afternoon.”
It added: “Given recent wet weather, some disruption to travel and infrastructure is likely.”
