Lymington Society hosting meeting about town council’s draft Neighbourhood Plan

RESIDENTS of Lymington and Pennington are invited to have their say on future town development at a public meeting.

Hosted by the Lymington Society, the meeting will allow people to learn more and ask questions about the draft Neighbourhood Plan, which is currently being prepared by the town council.

Once approved, the Neighbourhood Plan will feed into NFDC’s Local Plan, and will guide development throughout the Forest for the next decade.

Lymington mayor Jack Davies has confirmed he will attend and speak at the meeting, which is open both to the society’s 350 members and the public.

Society chair Don Mackenzie said: “The society strongly supports the town council in their wish to see the Lymington and Pennington Neighbourhood Plan accepted at a referendum and for the council to able to receive an enhanced proportion of the Community Infrastructure Levy, which can then be spent on local projects to improve the town.

“However, we do wish to ensure that society members and the wider community should have the opportunity to make their views known and have therefore organised a public meeting to enable people to express their views on what the council is proposing in the draft Neighbourhood Plan.

“Following the meeting, the society will be better informed as to the views of local people and better able to make representation to the council as to changes that need to be incorporated into the draft plan.”

The meeting will be held at the Baptist Church in New Street at 7pm on Monday 23rd September.
