Thorney Hill teenager Milly Whitlock Doe, who fell from hotel balcony in Majorca, is out of a coma and spoken a few words

A 15-year-old New Forest teen who fell from a hotel balcony has come out of a coma and managed to speak a few words.

As reported by the A&T, Milly Whitlock Doe, from Thorney Hill, near Bransgore, was on her first ever family trip abroad to Majorca when the accident happened.

She suffered serious head injuries and doctors had to carry out two brain surgeries and put her into an induced coma.

But yesterday family friend Erica Arnold revealed that miraculously Milly is now out of the coma and has been able to speak. She said: “I'm so pleased to be able to tell you that Milly is now out of a coma, breathing on her own and has been able speak a few words.

“This incredible news is what we have all been waiting for, well done Milly, you're such a fighter.

“Milly is still in a critical condition and in intensive care and relying on life support, but this is a major step forward for her. Once again, Milly's parents would like to thank you all for your kind words, support, prayers and donations, they just don't know how they would have got this far with you all.”

Erica, who has set up a JustGiving page for Milly to help her parents pay for medical treatment in Majorca and to get her a medical transfer home, added: “She is such a lovely girl, everyone who knows her loves her. There is still a long way to go but if anyone can fight and get through this, it is her.”

Milly, who is passionate about horse riding, was on the second day of the family holiday with her parents and three siblings at resort in S’illot, on the east of the island, when she fell last Tuesday.

Erica, who is in touch with Milly’s devastated parents, said: “It is not clear what happened. It is just a terrible thing; they had had one lovely day of holiday and then this happened.”

The JustGiving page has raised nearly £8,000 towards the target of £20,000.

In Milly’s village, locals have put up posters with the words ‘Get Milly home’ on fences, lampposts and in shop windows. There are also posters in nearby Bransgore. A fundraising bingo evening is being held at Thorney Hill community centre on Friday starting at 7.30pm. Games are £10 each, and there will be a raffle and refreshments.

Erica said: “Milly’s parents are spending every day at her bedside. Relatives have flown out to be with them at what is an awful time.

“Milly has had to undergo operations to relieve the pressure on her brain, but everyone is very hopeful that she will recover.”
