Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club raises £15,000 for Lymington Hospital’s endoscopy appeal
ACE golfers in Brockenhurst chipped in to raise thousands of pounds in support of a fundraiser for Lymington Hospital.
Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club ladies’ captain Mary Hayter and men’s captain Chris Wiles presented a cheque for £15,025 to Lymington Hospital Friends to back its endoscopy appeal.
“Lymington Hospital delivers a tremendous service to local people and many club members and their families receive excellent care from our local hospital,” Mary said. “Chris and I nominated Lymington Hospital Friends as our joint captains’ charity of the year, and we held many golfing and social events to raise money.
“I’m thrilled that our members all chipped in to enable us to donate over £15,000 towards the cost of this important new equipment.”
Accepting the big cheque, Lymington Hospital Friends trustee and joint chair Arthur England said: “On behalf of Lymington’s endoscopy team and their patients, a big thank you to Mary, Chris and everyone involved at Brokenhurst Manor for their charity of the year fundraising.
“The new state-of-the-art scopes will enable a more accurate diagnosis and an increased level of comfort for patients undergoing a colonoscopy. With this equipment, Lymington Hospital now has double the capacity and can treat more patients locally.”
He added: “It is tremendous to have support from many local clubs and societies to ensure we can continue to raise funds in the community to improve patient care above that provided by the NHS alone.”
