Gold medal win for New Forest Shortbread at Great British Food Awards
NEW Forest Shortbread has won a gold medal at the Great British Food Awards.
The winning entry in the sweet biscuit category was a buttery traditional shortbread with a rich golden bake and dairy aromas, which judges described as the “perfect shortbread biscuit”.
Category judge Robert Gooch described the All Butter Original New Forest Shortbread as having a “lovely buttery taste, with a great story on the packaging and homely feel to it”.
The panel stated: “If you are looking for the perfect shortbread biscuit that are just the right size for your mid-morning cuppa, make sure that New Forest are your first point of call.
“From the lovely packaging, which is recyclable and biodegradable, to the perfect number of biscuits, you will not be disappointed.
“It is not just the Scots that make good shortbread!”
New Forest Shortbread owner Tracy Thew said: “We are really thrilled to have won Gold in these prestigious awards! It’s so lovely to have been recognised in the sweet biscuit category.
“The team and I are chuffed to bits!”
Launched in 2014, the Great British Food Awards celebrate the very best artisanal produce in the UK’s food and drink industry – and to give a promotional platform to its passionate brands and makers.
The scheme is proud to have an array of food industry icons on its judging roster, from food critics such as William Sitwell to renowned chefs such as Michelin-starred Raymond Blanc and Michel Roux Jr.
