Bell tents and upgraded facilities at sites run by Camping New Forest as it opens early for the season
Glamping fans can rejoice with the news that bell tents have been introduced at campsites across the New Forest.
Visitors can also expect upgraded facilities and holiday packages when they book a break with Camping New Forest, which operates 10 Forestry England sites including Hollands Wood in Brockenhurst, Holmsley, Denny Wood near Lyndhurst, and the adults-only Longbeech near Fritham.
The season has kicked off earlier than expected, and bookings are open at the sites, where pitches are open for tents, caravans and campervans.
For those who love nature but appreciate a little extra comfort, 18 new bell tents have been introduced on five campsites, including Holmsley, Ashurst and Roundhill.
Accommodating for a family of four, they come complete with a double bed, two futons, cooking equipment, outdoor seating, and a coolbox.
Holmsley Campsite, set on the historic grounds of a former Second World War airfield and one of the most popular sites in the Forest, has undergone a £150,000 refurbishment as part of a £1.1m investment across all sites.
This includes renovation of the shop and takeaway area, as well as the addition of a children’s play area.
“Our goal was to improve the visitor experience while maintaining the historical importance of Holmsley,” said Ryk Becker, head of operations at Camping New Forest. “The upgraded shop now provides an improved range of essentials and a cosy spot to enjoy a coffee, and the new play area ensures that families with children can make the most of their visit. We’re excited to welcome guests back to see these improvements firsthand.”
Camping New Forest has also launched its Camping Community Experience, a package designed to “bring like-minded campers together”. Guests will benefit from reduced pitch fees, discounted entry to local attractions, and exclusive experiences, “fostering a sense of community among outdoor enthusiasts”.
The first Camping Community event was held at Roundhill Campsite this week and included a guided walk, visits to Exbury Gardens, a scenic Beaulieu River cruise, and access to the Beaulieu Motor Museum. Future dates will be announced soon.
Denis Dooley, chief executive of Camping New Forest, said 2025 marks a “new chapter” for the business.
“We’re thrilled to welcome guests back earlier than expected this year,” he said. “Whether guests are returning regulars or first-time visitors, they’ll find even more ways to relax, reconnect, and make lasting memories in the heart of the New Forest.
“With prices starting from just £26.80, it’s an affordable and memorable way to enjoy a holiday in the stunning natural beauty of the New Forest National Park.”
The organisation has introduced a new concession for visitors aged 60 and above to make it “even easier for senior campers to enjoy a peaceful and affordable getaway”.
Camping New Forest is owned by New Forest Agricultural Show Society, which also runs the New Forest and Hampshire County Show.
