Teen’s arson and assault charges after fire at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre in Bransgore
A TEENAGER is facing arson and assault charges after an alleged deliberate blaze at a New Forest activity centre.
As reported in the A&T, firefighters responded to a small amount of bedding in flames in a lodge bedroom at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre in Bransgore at 7pm on 17th December last year.
Oxygen was provided to a teenage girl as the Burley crew contained the emergency within 45 minutes.
Called out amid suspicions over the fire’s cause, police arrested a 17-year-old local girl at the site off Braggers Lane.
A spokesperson for the Hampshire force said: “She has since been charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered, and assault by beating of an emergency worker.
“The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries.”
The youngster was due to have appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Avon Tyrrell declined to comment about the incident.
