General Election 2024: Hustings announced for New Forest East and Christchurch candidates
POLITICAL candidates of all stripes will come together for hustings in two local electoral wards.
St Luke's Church in Church Lane, Sway, will host a hustings for New Forest East candidates next Wednesday 19th June.
And Christchurch candidates will battle for your vote at Godfirst Church in Airfield Road on Friday 28th June.
For the Sway hustings, which will be chaired by former parish council chair Lisa Thomas, the doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Questions can be asked on the night or submitted in advance by emailing katbirch@gmail.com
An event spokesperson confirmed the attendance of defending Conservative Sir Julian Lewis, Labour candidate Sasjkia Otto, Lib Dem candidate Caroline Rackham, Green candidate Simon King and Reform UK’s Roy Swales.
Two late running candidates – Mad Hatter for the Official Monster Raving Loony Party and Andrew Knight for the Animal Welfare Party – have also been invited.
For the Christchurch hustings, Conservative Sir Christopher Chope will make his case for re-election against independent candidate Simon McCormack, Lib Dem Mike Cox, Green Party’s Susan Graham and Labour’s Joanna Howard.
Social Democrat Party candidate Trevor Parsons and Reform UK candidate Robin Adamson declined an invitation to attend the event, which will run from 7pm to 9pm.
The Godfirst Church website has a link through which people can submit questions for the candidates in advance.
The Christchurch hustings will also be live-streamed at youtube.com/@GodFirstChurchuk
