The shortlisting recognised its series of leaflets which focus on promoting both rail use and healthy countryside walking for local people and visitors to the New Forest.

David Bennett, chair of the group, said the project came about as members sought to improve passenger experiences as well as providing a

better understanding of the area.

The chief executive of Community Rail, Jools Townsend, said: “Our awards showcase amazing projects, initiatives and people across Britain.

“This year the standard of entries has been extremely high and we look forward to celebrating their hard work, positivity and dedication at our awards evening.”

The awards, now in their 18th year, recognise the important work carried out across Britain’s rail network to make stations welcoming spaces for passengers and visitors alike.

The winners will be announced at a special ceremony in Manchester on 5th October.
