Man who stopped to help motorist arrested for drug-driving detained on suspicion of the same offence in Commercial Road, Totton
A FRIEND who stopped to help a fellow motorist arrested on suspicion of drug-driving on a main road in Totton found himself detained on suspicion of the same offence.
Police stopped a Peugeot in Commercial Road as it appeared to be uninsured and was being driven erratically around 6.20pm on Tuesday.
Having provided a positive roadside drug wipe test, its driver, a 25-year-old man from Romsey, was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.
While officers were at the scene, a man stopped in a Ford Focus to help the suspect, but he also appeared to be under the influence.
The 31-year-old man from Lockerley provided another positive roadside test result and was also arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.
Both men were later released under investigation.
A police social media post about the incident included a face-palm emoji and added “#BOGOF” – buy one get one free.
